Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the LAR protein-tyrosine phosphatase-interacting protein (liprin) family. Liprins interact with members of the LAR family of transmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatases, which play important roles in axon guidance and mammary gland development. Liprins are proposed to act as scaffolding proteins that organize complex structures for the recruitment and anchoring of LAR phosphatases. This protein interacts with S100A4, a calcium-binding protein associated with tumor invasiveness and metastasis. In vitro studies indicate that this interaction inhibits phosphorylation by protein kinase C and CK2. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
