Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a family of proteins containing conserved PDZ and LIM domains. LIM domains are involved in protein-protein interactions, including gene transcription, development, and cytoskeletal association. The LIM domains bind to protein kinases, while the PDZ domain interacts with actin filaments. PDLIM7 plays a role in the assembly of an actin filament-associated complex essential for ret/ptc2 mitogenic signaling. It functions as an adapter protein, localizing LIM-binding proteins to actin filaments in both skeletal and nonmuscle tissues. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
