Target Information
TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detecting cool sensations, activated by cold temperatures below 25 °C as well as icilin, eucalyptol, and menthol. It is permeable to sodium, potassium, cesium, and calcium ions.
TRPM8 expression is primarily found in prostate epithelial cells, with moderate mRNA levels in normal prostate tissue and elevated expression in prostate cancer. It has also been detected in certain non-prostatic tumors (breast, colon, lung, skin) but rarely in corresponding normal tissues.
