Target Information
ZFP281 (also known as ZBP-99) is a transcription factor interacting with GC-rich promoters. It contains four Kruppel-like zinc fingers and is homologous to ZBP-89, another regulator of ornithine decarboxylase gene expression. ZFP281 interacts with transcription factors such as Sp1 to repress vimentin gene transcription and regulates embryonic stem cell pluripotency by controlling specific target genes. It physically interacts with POU5F1, Sox2, and NANOG. Gene expression analysis shows that ZFP281 can both activate and repress target genes, indicating its bifunctional role in stem cell gene regulation.
