Target Information
CD90 (Thy1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein and a member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts. CD90 is involved in cell-cell and cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other neural events. It serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons. Structural studies of CD90 contributed to the identification of the Immunoglobulin superfamily and characterization of vertebrate GPI anchors. CD90 dysfunction has been associated with diseases such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
