This antibody is highly specific for mature olfactory neurons, including axons and terminals.

Target Information

Olfactory marker protein (OMP) is a 19-kDa cytosolic protein expressed almost exclusively in mature, functioning olfactory neurons, but not in neural precursor basal cells.
The OMP gene and protein sequence are highly conserved among mouse, rat, and human.
OMP is a modulatory component of the odor detection and signal transduction cascade and may act as a modulator of olfactory signal transduction.
It interacts with BEX1 and BEX2 and is uniquely associated with mature olfactory receptor neurons.
Belongs to the olfactory marker protein family.
