Target Information
TRAIL (TNFSF10) is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It preferentially induces apoptosis in transformed and tumor cells but does not appear to affect normal cells, despite being expressed at significant levels in most tissues.
TRAIL interacts with multiple TNF receptor family members, including TRAILR1 (DR4), TRAILR2 (DR5), TRAILR3 (DcR1), and TRAILR4 (DcR2), as well as the decoy receptor OPG. Its binding triggers activation of MAPK8/JNK, caspase 8, and caspase 3 pathways.
TRAIL is a type II membrane protein expressed in various human tissues and plays a key role in apoptosis and NF-κB activation.
