Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological roles. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as potential biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene is part of a kallikrein subfamily cluster on chromosome 19 and may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin. It has been suggested as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
