Target Information
Microtubules, composed of alpha and beta tubulin subunits, form the mitotic spindle and organize membranous organelles during interphase.
Katanin is a heterodimer consisting of:
- p60 subunit (A1): ATPase that severs and disassembles microtubules
- p80 subunit (B1): Accessory protein that localizes the enzyme to the centrosome
This gene encodes the p80 subunit, a member of the AAA family of ATPases.
