E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin)은 칼슘 의존적 세포-세포 접착을 담당하는 글리코프로틴으로, cadherin 슈퍼패밀리에 속한 클래식 cadherin입니다. 이 단백질은 5개의 세포외 cadherin 반복 영역, 막관통 영역, 그리고 보존된 세포질 꼬리 영역으로 구성되어 있습니다.
CDH1 유전자는 인간 16번 염색체에 위치하며, E-cadherin 발현 감소 또는 소실은 암의 침습 및 전이 잠재력 증가와 관련이 있습니다. 또한 이 단백질은 조직 구조 유지와 세포 성장 조절에 핵심적인 역할을 합니다.
