Specificity: Human Cadherin-12/CDH12
Target Information
CDH12 is a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily of integral membrane proteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherin proteins consist of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a small, highly conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. Type II (atypical) cadherins are characterized by the absence of a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence found in type I cadherins. CDH12 is specifically expressed in the brain and its temporal expression pattern suggests a role in neuronal development, particularly during synaptogenesis.
