Target Information
Transforming acidic coiled-coil (TACC) proteins are a conserved family of centrosome- and microtubule-interacting proteins implicated in cancer.
The TACC2 gene encodes a protein that localizes to centrosomes throughout the cell cycle and lies within a chromosomal region associated with tumorigenesis.
Expression of this gene is induced by erythropoietin and is thought to influence breast tumor progression.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
