Target Information
Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion concentration changes and is essential for proper muscle function and myofibril formation. In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner. Expression levels can be affected by heart failure, and mutations are associated with familial hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy. The TNNT2 gene undergoes alternative splicing, producing tissue-specific isoforms.
