Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are associated with cancer susceptibility. Upon DNA damage, CHK2 phosphorylates several cell cycle modulators, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1, enabling DNA damage response and repair. CHK2 is considered a tumor suppressor protein, and mutations have been linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
