Target Information
HEPACAM2 (Hepatocyte cell adhesion molecule 2) is a type I N-linked transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily.
Although its exact function remains unclear, the related protein HEPACAM forms cis-homodimers on the cell surface to regulate cell adhesion and may inhibit cell growth by suppressing proliferation.
HEPACAM and HEPACAM2 mRNA are differentially regulated in canine tumors — HEPACAM2 mRNA increases in adenomas but decreases in metastatic carcinomas compared to normal tissues, while HEPACAM protein levels decrease in adenomas.
These findings suggest that HEPACAM2 plays a distinct role from HEPACAM in tumor development and progression.
