Target Information
Desmosomes are cell-cell junctions found in epithelial, myocardial, and other cell types. Three desmoglein subfamily members have been identified, all belonging to the cadherin superfamily. These genes are located in a cluster on chromosome 18. DSG2 is known as the autoantigen of pemphigus vulgaris, an autoimmune skin blistering disease.
