Tenascin은 고분자량의 다기능성 세포외 기질 당단백질로, 발달 과정 중 중간엽-상피 상호작용 및 미분화 종양의 신생혈관과 간질에서 발현됩니다 (Erickson and Bourdon 1989).
다양한 이름으로도 알려져 있으며, cytotactin, hexabrachion protein, J1, myotendinous antigen (MI), glioma mesenchymal extracellular matrix (GMEM) 등이 있습니다.
Tenascin 분자는 이황화 결합된 헥사머 구조를 가지며, 정상 및 병리적 성장 과정과 관련되어 있으나 성인 정상 조직에서는 제한적으로 분포합니다.
