Product Specific Information

This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human LDLR (Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor).

Target Information

The low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene family consists of cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. LDL binds at the cell membrane and is internalized, leading to degradation in lysosomes and release of cholesterol. Mutations in the LDL-R gene cause familial hypercholesterolemia, an autosomal dominant disorder.

LDL-R also acts as an entry factor for Hepatitis C virus along with SCARB1, CLDN1, and CD81. At least three isoforms of LDL-R are known to exist.
