Collagen IV는 basement membrane의 주요 구성 성분으로, laminin 및 enactin과 함께 존재합니다. Collagen IV는 α1(IV) chain과 α2(IV) chain이 2:1 비율로 결합되어 있으며, 높은 인장 강도를 가진 불용성 섬유를 형성할 수 있습니다. Collagen IV에 대한 항체는 암종에서 basement membrane 일부의 손실을 탐지하는 데 유용합니다.
