Target Information
The RBMS1 gene encodes a member of a small family of proteins that bind single-stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins contain two ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) with conserved motifs RNP1 and RNP2, which are essential for DNA binding. They are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing, and a pseudogene is located on chromosome 12.
