Specificity: Recognises human RAD23B.
Target Information
The RAD23B gene encodes one of two human homologs of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad23, a protein involved in nucleotide excision repair (NER). This protein is part of the complex that complements the NER defect of xeroderma pigmentosum group C (XP-C) cell extracts in vitro. It interacts with and enhances the activity of 3-methyladenine-DNA glycosylase (MPG), suggesting a role in DNA damage recognition in base excision repair. The N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain interacts with the 26S proteasome, indicating involvement in the ubiquitin-mediated proteolytic pathway.
