Target Information

This antibody recognizes the DWARF 14 (D14) protein involved in the strigolactone (SL) signaling pathway. D14 may act downstream of SL synthesis as part of hormone signaling or as an enzyme that converts SL into its bioactive form.

Strigolactones are plant hormones that:

  • Inhibit tillering and shoot branching via the MAX-dependent pathway
  • Regulate shoot architecture under phosphate-limiting conditions
  • Function as rhizosphere signals stimulating hyphal branching of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi
  • Trigger seed germination of root parasitic weeds

SL-dependent association of D14 with D3 and D53 leads to D53 ubiquitination and degradation. D14 hydrolyzes the butenolide ring of SLs, forming D-OH, which induces interaction with SLR1 and possibly other proteins such as D3 and D53. D14 also contributes to the negative regulation of gibberellin signaling.
