Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select the best candidates for production.

Three different forms of human pancreatic procarboxypeptidase A have been identified. The encoded protein represents the A2 form, a monomeric protein with distinct biochemical properties compared to A1 and A3 forms.
The A2 form acts on aromatic C-terminal residues and is a secreted enzyme.
