Target Information

G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs) are transmembrane proteins that transmit extracellular ligand-binding signals into intracellular G protein activation. This signaling mechanism is conserved across eukaryotes for environmental sensing and cell communication.
GPR103 is a 455 amino acid receptor highly expressed in the brain, retina, trigeminal ganglion, hypothalamus, and vestibular nucleus. In peripheral tissues, it is found in the heart, kidney, and testis. It may regulate adrenal function. The neuropeptide 26RFa acts as an endogenous ligand for GPR103.
