Target Information
Chemokines are a family of proteins involved in leukocyte trafficking during immune surveillance and inflammatory responses. CX3CL1 is a CX3C chemokine that mediates leukocyte adhesion and migration through its membrane-bound and soluble forms, respectively.
It has been shown to suppress nitrous oxide, interleukin-6, and TNF-α production in activated microglia and neuronal cells, suggesting a potential neuroprotective role.
CX3CL1’s receptor, CX3CR1, also functions as a co-receptor for HIV-1 and HIV-2 envelope fusion and infection, which can be inhibited by CX3CL1.
