FITC conjugates provide relatively high absorptivity, excellent fluorescence quantum yield, and good water solubility.


Target Information

The CD40 antigen is a single-chain glycoprotein, part of the tumor necrosis factor/nerve growth factor superfamily. It shows significant homology to the Hodgkin’s disease-associated antigen CD30. CD40 is expressed on all B cells except plasma cells and is also found on epithelial cells, carcinomas, and lymphoid dendritic cells.

CD40 plays a crucial role in:

  • T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching
  • Memory B cell development
  • Germinal center formation

AKNA transcription factor regulates CD40 expression and may influence homotypic cell interactions. TNFR2 adaptor protein mediates CD40 signal transduction. Interaction of CD40 and its ligand is essential for amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, implicated in early Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.

Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
Diseases associated with CD40 dysfunction include:

  • Type 3 Hyper-IgM immunodeficiency
  • CD40 ligand deficiency
