Target Information
DIABLO (Smac)는 미토콘드리아 단백질로, 다양한 형태의 세포자멸사(apoptosis)를 활성화합니다. 이는 IAP(apoptosis inhibitory proteins) 계열 단백질의 억제 작용을 중화함으로써 발생할 수 있습니다. Smac은 특정 세포자멸사 유도 사건 동안 미토콘드리아에서 세포질로 이동하며, 미토콘드리아 매개 세포자멸사는 동물 발달과 조직 항상성 유지에 중요합니다. 이러한 과정의 이상은 다양한 악성 질환으로 이어질 수 있습니다. 세포자멸사 자극 시, cytochrome c와 Smac/DIABLO가 세포질로 방출되며, 이 두 단백질은 서로 다른 메커니즘을 통해 방출됩니다. 또한 Smac/DIABLO는 암세포의 세포자멸사 감작(면역 및 약물 유도)에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
