RNA polymerase II는 mRNA 및 다양한 non-coding RNA의 합성을 담당하는 효소입니다. POLR2A는 RNA polymerase II의 가장 큰 서브유닛인 RPB1을 암호화합니다. RPB1의 C-terminal domain (CTD)은 YSPTSPS 서열의 반복으로 구성되어 있으며, Serine-2 및 Serine-5의 인산화는 전사 주기를 조절하는 인자들의 결합에 영향을 미칩니다.
