Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed and play key roles in regulating meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells. These kinases are activated by various stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, viral infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands. Activation occurs through the Ras–Raf–MEK–ERK signaling cascade, leading to phosphorylation of cytoplasmic and nuclear targets including transcription factors like c-Fos and Elk-1.
