Target Information
KCNB2 (Kv2.2) encodes a voltage-gated potassium channel that regulates neuronal membrane excitability. Differences in K+ channel expression and density contribute to variations in action potential waveforms and firing patterns among neuronal cell types. Kv2.1 and KCNB2 form distinct channel populations responsible for delayed rectifier-type currents (IK) in superior cervical ganglion cells. KCNB2 mediates voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability, opening or closing in response to membrane potential changes. Associated diseases include Brugada Syndrome.
