Target Information
The spiral-shaped bacterium Helicobacter pylori is strongly associated with gastric inflammation and is implicated in the development of gastric malignancy. H. pylori causes peptic ulcers and chronic gastritis in humans and is associated with duodenal ulcers. It may also contribute to the development of adenocarcinoma and low-grade lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) in the stomach.
This antibody stains individual H. pylori bacteria when present on the epithelial surface or within the cytoplasm of epithelial cells in biopsy tissue sections from the antrum and body of the stomach.
