Product Specific Information

This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Enhanced specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human CNTF.

Target Information

The CNTF gene encodes a polypeptide hormone primarily active in the nervous system, promoting neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in certain neuronal populations. It acts as a potent survival factor for neurons and oligodendrocytes, potentially reducing tissue destruction during inflammatory attacks. A mutation in this gene can cause ciliary neurotrophic factor deficiency, though it is not directly associated with neurological disease. A non-coding read-through transcript combining ZFP91 and CNTF sequences has also been identified in humans and mice.
