ADP-ribosylation factor (ARF)-like proteins (ARLs)은 ARF 계열 RAS 관련 GTPases의 기능적으로 구별되는 그룹을 구성합니다. 이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 ARL2.GTP에 높은 친화도로 결합하지만 ARL2.GDP, 활성화된 ARF 또는 RHO 단백질과는 상호작용하지 않습니다. ARL2 활성화 시에도 막 결합이 감지되지 않아 ARF와는 다른 작용을 하는 것으로 보입니다. 이 단백질은 ARL2.GTP와의 상호작용으로 인해 최초의 ARL2 특이적 효소로 간주됩니다.
