Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids within the secretory pathway, consisting of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs).
Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization after fragmentation during mitosis.
This gene encodes one of the golgins, a family of proteins localized to the Golgi, implicated in stacking of Golgi cisternae and vesicular transport.
Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their full-length forms are not fully determined.
