Target Information
The POMT1 gene encodes an O-mannosyltransferase that requires interaction with the POMT2 gene product for enzymatic function. The protein is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Mutations in this gene are associated with Walker-Warburg syndrome (WWS) and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2K (LGMD2K). Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
