Target Information

Syntaxin 1 is a member of the syntaxin superfamily, which includes nervous system-specific proteins involved in synaptic vesicle docking with the presynaptic plasma membrane. It contains:

• A single C-terminal transmembrane domain
• A SNARE (Soluble NSF Attachment protein Receptor) domain (H3)
• An N-terminal regulatory domain (Habc)

Syntaxin 1 binds synaptotagmin in a calcium-dependent manner and interacts with voltage-dependent calcium and potassium channels through the H3 domain. It plays a critical role in ion channel regulation and synaptic exocytosis. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
