Target Information
The NOS1AP gene encodes a cytosolic protein that binds to neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS). It contains a C-terminal PDZ-binding domain mediating interactions with nNOS and an N-terminal phosphotyrosine binding (PTB) domain that binds to the small G protein Dexras1. Studies indicate that NOS1AP acts as an adapter linking nNOS to specific targets such as Dexras1 and synapsins. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
