Target Information

The small G protein GDP dissociation stimulator (smg GDS) is a regulatory protein that acts on small G proteins such as Rho, Rap1, and Ki-Ras. It stimulates their GDP/GTP exchange reactions and inhibits their membrane interactions. The encoded protein contains nine Armadillo repeats and interacts with smg GDS through these repeats. It is concentrated around the endoplasmic reticulum and phosphorylated by v-src, which reduces its affinity for smg GDS. This protein likely serves as a linker between human chromosome-associated polypeptide (HCAP) and KIF3A/B, a kinesin superfamily protein, playing a role in chromosome–motor protein interactions. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
