Target Information
The POLR2J2 gene belongs to the RNA polymerase II subunit 11 gene family, located on chromosome 7q22.1, with a pseudogene on 7p13. The family encodes subunits of RNA polymerase II, which synthesizes messenger RNA in eukaryotes. POLR2J2 produces multiple alternatively spliced transcripts that may encode isoforms with distinct C-termini compared to POLR2J. Many variants include non-coding exons at the 3' end, making them candidates for nonsense-mediated decay (NMD). It remains unclear whether this locus expresses a functional protein in vivo.
