Description:
The CD28.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD28 molecule, a 44 kDa homodimer expressed by thymocytes, mature T cells, and plasma cells. CD28 serves as a ligand for CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2), functioning as a potent co-stimulator of T cells. Signaling through CD28 enhances IL-2 and IL-2 receptor expression and promotes cytotoxicity of CD3-activated T cells.

This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per 100 µL test volume. Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T-cell surface glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes and acts as a critical co-stimulatory receptor by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells. CD28 signaling prevents T-cell anergy and premature apoptosis. In murine lymphoid organs, CD28 is expressed on all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, with varying expression levels depending on maturation stage. CD28 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
