This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HDAC5.
Target Information
Histones are key regulators of transcription, cell cycle progression, and development. Histone acetylation/deacetylation modifies chromatin structure and influences transcription factor access to DNA.
HDAC5 belongs to the class II histone deacetylase family, exhibiting deacetylase activity and repressing transcription when bound to a promoter. It interacts with HDAC3 and MEF2 proteins, repressing MEF2-dependent genes.
This gene is implicated in colon cancer, and two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
