Target Information

ROR2 (receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 2) is a type I transmembrane protein that belongs to the ROR subfamily of cell surface receptors. It is involved in early chondrocyte and cartilage formation and growth plate development. Expression is high during early embryonic development and decreases significantly by day 16, remaining low in adult tissues.

Defects in ROR2 are associated with:

• Brachydactyly type B1 (BDB1): Autosomal dominant skeletal disorder characterized by hypoplasia/aplasia of distal phalanges and nails. Both fingers and toes are affected; thumbs and big toes are often deformed.
• Recessive Robinow syndrome (RRS): Autosomal disorder with skeletal dysplasia, limb bone shortening, segmental spine defects, brachydactyly, and dysmorphic facial features.

The protein contains:

• 1 frizzled (FZ) domain
• 1 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domain
• 1 kringle domain
