This antibody detects endogenous levels of total SMCR7L/MID51.
Target Information
SMCR7L is a mitochondrial outer membrane protein that regulates mitochondrial fission. It promotes recruitment and association of the fission mediator dynamin-related protein 1 (DNM1L) to the mitochondrial surface independently of FIS1 and MFF proteins. SMCR7L regulates DNM1L GTPase activity and oligomerization, binds ADP (and GDP with lower affinity), and modulates DNM1L assembly into long, spiral tubules. It does not bind CDP, UDP, ATP, AMP, or GTP. ADP binding is required for stimulation of DNM1L activity and tubule formation but not for recruitment of DNM1L.
