Target Information
J chain is a small glycopeptide synthesized by plasma cells that secrete polymeric immunoglobulins. It is linked to IgA and IgM by disulfide bonds and has also been detected in IgG- and IgD-containing cells. J chains are present in many immunoglobulin-positive cells in germinal centers of the tonsil and lymph node. B cells secrete J chain early in differentiation, with expression persisting in cells producing IgA or IgM.
