Target Information
SLC27A1 is a protein coding gene that mediates ATP-dependent import of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA) into the cell and exhibits acyl-CoA ligase activity for long-chain and very-long-chain fatty acids. It may function as a transporter or as part of a multimeric complex to facilitate fatty acid uptake and accumulation. This protein plays a key role in regulating LCFA availability in tissues with high beta-oxidation or triglyceride synthesis and may also influence cholesterol metabolism.
