Target Information
GPCR G2A is a G-protein linked receptor for lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). It may act as a sensor of LPC levels at sites of inflammation to limit tissue infiltration and progression to autoimmune disease. It functions at the G2/M checkpoint to delay mitosis and may help T and B cells slow proliferation and repair damaged DNA. Expression is high in macrophages and lymphoid tissues (spleen, thymus) and low in heart and lung. In atherosclerotic plaques, expression is observed around the lipid core and shoulder region. It is induced by DNA-damaging agents.
