The antibody detects endogenous levels of total INHBB protein.
Target Information
The inhibin beta B subunit joins the alpha subunit to form a pituitary FSH secretion inhibitor. Inhibin negatively regulates gonadal stromal cell proliferation and exhibits tumor-suppressor activity. Serum levels of inhibin reflect granulosa-cell tumor size and can serve as a marker for primary and recurrent disease. Expression varies among gonadal and extragonadal tissues, suggesting inhibin acts as both a growth/differentiation factor and a hormone. The beta B subunit also forms activin B (homodimer) and activin AB (heterodimer with beta A), both stimulating FSH secretion.
