This peptide corresponds to 14 amino acids near the center of avian influenza NS2.
Target Information
Influenza viruses consist of three types (Influenza A, B, and C), which make up three of the five genera in the Orthomyxoviridae family. Commonly known as the flu, influenza strains can affect both birds and mammals.
Influenza strains form roughly spherical particles with a viral envelope containing two main glycoproteins (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase), surrounding the central core of the viral RNA genome and associated proteins that package and protect the RNA.
Unlike many viruses, the influenza genome consists of seven to eight segmented fragments of negative-sense RNA, each encoding different viral proteins.
Two distinct non-structural proteins, NS1 and NS2, are translated from one of these RNA segments using different reading frames. The influenza A virus NS2 is located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm and is essential for nuclear export of influenza virus ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes.
