Target Information

The KIDINS220 gene encodes a transmembrane protein predominantly expressed in the nervous system, where it regulates neuronal cell survival, differentiation of axons and dendrites, and synaptic plasticity.
This protein interacts with membrane receptors, cytosolic signaling components, and cytoskeletal proteins, functioning as a scaffold that mediates crosstalk between the neurotrophin pathway and other intracellular signaling pathways.
Aberrant expression is linked to neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.
Mutations in this gene are associated with a syndrome characterized by spastic paraplegia, intellectual disability, nystagmus, and obesity.
