Product Specific Information
- Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water.
- Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
- Specificity: TERT.
Target Information
Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein polymerase that maintains telomere ends by addition of the telomere repeat TTAGGG.
The enzyme consists of:
- A protein component with reverse transcriptase activity (encoded by the TERT gene)
- An RNA component serving as a template for telomere repeat synthesis.
Telomerase expression is typically repressed in postnatal somatic cells, leading to progressive telomere shortening and cellular senescence.
Deregulation of telomerase expression may contribute to oncogenesis.
In mice, telomerase also participates in chromosomal repair, as de novo synthesis of telomere repeats may occur at double-stranded breaks.
Alternative splicing of the TERT gene produces multiple isoforms, some of which are incompletely characterized, and is considered a regulatory mechanism for telomerase activity.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
